How long is the Class?
The class is 5 days and typically goes from 8am till 5pm, with a lunch, morning/afternoon breaks.
What happens when I can not attend the class or during the class, for personal/emergency reasons?
We will give you credit to take the class at a later scheduled date.
What happens if the class is canceled?
Registration fees are Non-Refundable. You will be given priority to attend any of our next scheduled classes.
How do Register and Pay for the class?
1) Register for the class by mail, fax or e-mail. You will need to download or print the registration packet (registration form included). Complete the registration form and send back by mail, fax, e-mail. If you are registering by mail, we suggest you complete our online registration form to reserve your seat in the class (payment is separate from registration). Class availability is on a first come (paid), first serve basis (paid).
2) Register and pay online. Complete the online registration form, then pay by credit card. You still need to download/print the Registration Packet, as this has important information regarding the class (schedule, directions, hotels, etc.) Payment is made by credit card (Visa, M/C, Amex, Discover) through Google Checkout.Why do I need a 'Microsoft Windows' computer?
A Microsoft Windows based Laptop Computer is needed to take the online HERS test at the end of class and for the REM/RATE software installed for the plan rating part of the class. REM/RATE DOES NOT work with Apple, Linux or other operating systems (even with compatibility modes). If you Do Not have a Windows laptop or are unable to borrow/obtain one, please contact us immediatly. We MAY BE able to loan you a computer.
Computers with Windows 98/ME must have Visual Basic 6.0 SP5 installed. This can be downloaded from Microsoft. Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher is required to take the online test.Why do I need a construction calculator?
A construction calculator is not required, but highly recommended. You Do Need a calculator with 'square root' function/button, for the HERS exam and field ratings. We recommend a 'construction calculator', as this has many built in functions needed for HERS certification work.Why do I need work books/hard soled shoes and hard hat?
CGE Solutions is an active ENERGY STAR Rater and has a working relationship with our builders. Based on the status of homes under construction, we may 'go into the field' to conduct segments of the training class. To comply with safety codes and builder requirements, work boots/hard soled shoes are required. Hard hats are also required, but if you do not have one, CGE will provide the hard hat.What If I fail the HERS Exam ?
The exam can be retaken at any time, per RESNET guidelines (testing fees may apply).
